Carol brings twenty years experience as a Spiritual Director to her work at the Center for Spiritual Care, which she co-founded with Maureen Schlitt in October 2000. She trained at the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation (Ecumenical) in Washington, D.C., the Washington Theological Union (Roman Catholic), and Mercy Center in Burlingame, California.
In addition to her ministry at the Center for Spiritual Care, Carol works on the Spiritual Directors International (an organization of 6,500 spiritual directors in 40 faith traditions around the world) organizing committee for its annual Leadership Institute. Her articles, interviews and book reviews appear in SDI’s journal, Presence.
Carol also teaches in Loyola University and Sacred Heart University spiritual direction formation programs, and is on staff of the Audire Spiritual Direction training program at the Orlando diocesan San Pedro Center for Spiritual Development.
A career diplomat in the Foreign Service of the United States before she came to Florida, Carol has lived for extended periods in Japan, Italy, Mexico and the Philippines. Both her experience abroad and her educational background helped develop her expertise in interpersonal and intercultural communication. Her Master's degree from the University of Dayton is in Asian and American history, and she completed doctoral studies in international communications at the American University in Washington, D.C.
Carol offers individual and group spiritual direction, guided retreats, facilitates personal spiritual growth groups, staff retreats and days of recollection. Her primary interest is feminine spirituality. Carol can be reached at 772-567-1233, ext. 3, or by e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
